Kaikohe Bank of New Zealand

This historic Bank of New Zealand building has been in Kaikohe since 1916. A few years ago it needed quite extensive earthquake strengthening so the bank itself moved to another building while new owners took on the challenge - article here

These days the old bank vault is now a wine cellar, a restaurant and a backpackers. The hotel rooms upstairs have been furnished in heritage style with furniture like antique wash stands along with 100 years of paint cleaned off the native timbers.

...I like the entrance door on the corner of the building.

That would not look out of place in some the towns here

What did the "Left Bank" name refer to on this lovely piece of banking architecture?

Clever name for it. Good that a feature of the place can be saved and find another good use.

Great photos Amy. The architects were Edward Mahoney and Sons of Auckland. Very significant firm. They designed quite a few bank buildings in their time as well as many other now heritage listed buildings.
