The Kamo Hotel
The first original Kamo Hotel was built by 1880 but was destroyed by fire 3 years later and replaced. By 1885 the hotel was enlarged and additions were were made to the top storey to give it 15 bedrooms - it then had a total of 24 rooms. The new hotel with it's brick base was built in 1937 when it was at it's busiest during the mining era. It was a magnet on sale days for stock agents, farmers and drovers who bought cattle for sale at the local saleyards and for miners who worked at at the local Kamo mine.
So quite a grand lady with quite a grand history! Good to see it still going and still being used.
