Riverhead Guest House

Black and white photo of a wooden house on a ride. The house is partially obscured behind a slope, while the veranda and peaked roofline, gables and finials stop of each are visible. Photo by Marion Spicer.

This beautiful house is located in Horeke and probably overlooks the water. Originally located in the Kaipara district and built by the owner of a Kauri Mill, it is now being used as a guest house named Riverhead Guest House.

The website says this:
In the 1970s it was moved to Horeke and located on a prominent hill above the village where it enjoys extensive views at the head waters of the Hokianga Harbour. The resilience of it's Kauri construction and use of other native timbers is evident today 150 years after it was first designed and built.

These days it is owned by Utakura Investments, a New Zealand owned and operated company and used as a lovely guest house.
