Thomas and Lydia Griffin

This Wesleyan house located in Schoolhouse Lane in Paparoa is apparently still there and just as pretty. The house features Thomas Nicholas Griffin and his wife Lydia standing in front.

Thomas was born in 1853 in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England and married Lydia Augusta De Carteret in New Zealand in 1884. His parents were Robert Griffin and Isabella Kinrade. Thomas and Lydia had 4 children; Isabella, Annie, Adelaide and Lillian.

Thomas passed away in 1924 and Lydia in 1923.

The house does indeed look lovely but a bit isolated. I would have planted some fruit trees, and perhaps flower and vegetable gardens.
