The Kaeo RSA Building

Also known as the Kaeo First World War Memorial Library opened first on 7th February 1923. A marble tablet next to the entry door reads as follows "This building is erected in memory of those from the Whangaroa County who made the supreme sacrifice in the great war 1914 to 1919. In remembering the dead let the living be humbled".

The Whangaroa County roll of honour on display inside lists the names of 32 men who gave their lives in the 1st world war and a similar roll of honour with another 27 names was added after the 2nd world war. The Kaeo RSA now appropriately uses the building.

Love your header tree. A real umbrella one. And unbeleavable that even from such a remote distance people died in the first world war.

Another building, another street scene which reminds me so much of the old NZ I left behind.
Nice that the RSA is now housed here along with the memorial.
