Kawakawa Movie Theatre


On Kawakawa's main road is this delightful building built in art-deco style. Apparently it was showing movies from 1936 until 1976. Over the years it has been a movie theatre, a clothing shop, an op shop, a creative co-op and a childcare centre. In 2014 it was bought by new owners who plan restore the theatre into a creative space for commercial and community use hosting exhibitions, presentations and movies.

Typical cinema look, no different to what was built here in the UK, shame most of them are not used for that purpose any more
